Weekend menus, evening and lunch. Modern food with roots in the soil of Lolland

Modern kitchen in beautiful surroundings

High and low have been served in Hotel Saxkjøbing’s beautiful restaurant with the high panels and coloured stained-glass ceilings since 1835. Today, the restaurant still invites you inside for both everyday life and parties. We have menus for all occasions and for both small and large appetite – also take out.

Claus Meyer took over the hotel in 2006. The hotel’s food can best be described as modern made from seasonal ingredients. The menu is inspired by the New Nordic Kitchen with a nod to the French and the classic Danish. Simple and honest food that is based on local produce and the course of nature on Lolland and the islands in the Småland Sea.

Claus was born in Sundby on Lolland and today runs orchards on Lilleø. There is not a producer he does not know on the South Sea Islands. The hotel gets apples, pears and quinces from Lilleø, vegetables from Bøtø, poultry from Guldborg, shore crabs from the Småland Sea, turbot from Langø near Nakskov and lamb from Krenkerup.

On the menu

Our menu follows the seasons and therefore changes continuously. The local growers and producers on Lolland, Falster and the smaller South Sea islands inspire our dishes and are the foundation of our kitchen. We have our own bakery that bakes sourdough bread and cakes for the restaurant daily.

On the evening menu, you will find a wide selection of a la carte dishes with either vegetables, fish or meat in the main role – and our seasonal menu with 3 or 4 courses composed of the kitchen. For lunch, we serve a wide selection of open sandwiches and two warm guest favourites: Parisian steak and the hotel’s burger.

It is also possible to enjoy some light dishes and a tapas board in our bakery & café.
