Sakskøbing Madhus
Sakskøbing Madhus is a development project we have started together with the citizens of the town. The goal is twofold. On the one hand, with food and meals as a turning point. To develop unity, cohesion and hosting in the city of Sakskøbing. On the other hand, to support, accelerate and visualize the fine food, gastronomic and agricultural development that has taken place in the South Sea islands over the last 10 years.
The House of food (Madhuset) is run by the association “The Little Apple” with over 400 members and has two physical locations. The farm shop (Gårdbutikken), which is door to door with the hotel, and the cookery school with a professional production kitchen, is located on the opposite side of the town square, with room for 20 students at a time.
The hotel cooperates closely with both the farm shop and the cookery school. For example, our kitchen supplies delicious, freshly baked bread to the farm shop every day, and some of the hotel’s chefs teach food classes at the cookery school, and you can always get a good offer for a teambuilding package. This could e.g. start in the farm shop where you get nice local goods, cross the town square to the cookery school and make a nice 3 or 5 course dinner. And when it is time, you go back across the town square to the hotel to kick back and relax in a nice bed for a good night’s rest.
