Hotel Saxkjøbing is located in the middle of Lolland-Falster with a short distance to an abundance of sights and beautiful nature. The hotel is located on the town square, a few hundred meters from the harbour and Sakskøbing Fjord, which is considered one of the country’s most beautiful. Knuthenborg Safari Park is just 8 km away, and Krenkerup Brewery is just outside Sakskøbing. The small islands of Fejø and Femø can be reached by ferry from Kragenæs, while the ferry from Bandholm Harbour takes you to Askø, which is connected by dam with Lilleø, where Claus Meyer has his farm and associated orchard.

About the hotel

With its almost 200 years, the historic hotel is one of the country’s oldest and after a thorough renovation of the half-timbered structure, courtyard, halls, mosaic ceilings, rooms and kitchens, it is now ready for a new era.

The hotel houses 32 rooms and a cozy restaurant, as well as many charming living rooms and meeting rooms, with the large newly renovated banquet hall with a balcony and seating for 150 diners as the main attraction. In addition, there is an on-site bakery and a café, where you can enjoy a glass of local wine, a cup of coffee, a cake or an ice cream on site. But also, a small farm shop with local food and wines. The many beautiful rooms – and our modern kitchen – are each worth a detour.

At the hotel, we offer a variety of tailor-made stays. We work closely with other local institutions to be able to offer some very special experiences with something for everyone. All dinners and the breakfast buffet are composed by our chef based on seasonal ingredients and are served in our beautiful and cozy restaurant. A weekend or a few days away from everyday life. This stay is obvious if you need a little break from the usual. Here we have chosen a 2-course menu - and offer the opportunity to choose even more dishes and wines according to your own wishes.

If you book a stay over several days, there is plenty of opportunity to go on an excursion after breakfast, come home in the late afternoon for a nice sip of coffee and cake and end the day with a wonderful dinner in the restaurant. If you stay with us for several days, we will of course make sure that the menu is changing.

If you want to stay here for several days, but would like to combine it with the freedom to try some of the other lovely eateries in the region, you are of coarse welcome to do so.

Cultural Stay - Fuglsang Museum

Our cultural stay is for those of you who want to combine a little break from everyday life with art, culture and good food. Experience the South Sea Islands with a visit to Fuglsang Art Museum, which is rooted in one of the country's oldest art museums. Combine it with a trip to the unique sculpture park Dodekalitten in Kragenæs. End the tour with a tour of Maribo Cathedral, which is open daily from 09:00 to 17:00.

We offer a package with dinner and accommodation at the hotel, as well as a ticket for a visit to the museum. We serve coffee and homemade cake when you arrive, and in the evening, you are spoiled with a 2-course menu in our restaurant.

Lolland-Falster's 5 golf courses work closely with 7 individual accommodations to offer attractive golf stays, where you as a guest can decide for yourself where you want to stay and play.

At Hotel Saxkjøbing we offer 1 or 2 nights in a double room with breakfast buffet, a glass of bubbles before dinner and a 3-course menu, as well as 2 or 3 green fees depending on the number of nights.

You choose which of the South Sea Islands' 5 golf clubs you want to spend your green fees at.

All our rooms are bright and friendly. 13 of them are located in the original main building and have a view of either the square or the courtyard. 9 of them are located in our annex, which is the oldest part of the hotel and exudes history. The last 10 rooms are located in the theatre building and are all newly renovated with new shower and toilet, new wooden floors and new beds. All room rates include a delicious breakfast buffet, which can be enjoyed in our lovely restaurant. Check-in is from 15:00.
